How to pick a guide here
Match the guide to the water, not the marina. A Perdido Pass jetty specialist, a Mobile Bay delta guide, and a Little Lagoon skiff captain fish three different games. Decide what you want — a cooler of trout, a shot at a bull red, a kid's first fish, sight-fishing — and say so plainly; the honest captains will tell you if the calendar fits. Book mornings over afternoons in warm months, watch the bite score for your trip week, and let the captain move the date if a front lines up wrong. A guide who suggests rescheduling is a guide worth keeping.

What's included?
License coverage, bait, tackle, ice, and fish cleaning vary. Ask, and ask about the weather-cancellation policy in the same breath.
Your style or theirs?
If you want to throw artificials and the boat is a live-bait operation (or vice versa), say so before the deposit, not at the dock.
