Information stored on your device
The catch journal stores species, fishing spot, region, length, note, and entry date in your browser’s local storage. Those entries remain on your device and are not transmitted to Gulf Coast Bite. Clearing browser data or using the delete control removes them.
Optional analytics
If you select “Allow analytics,” Google Analytics uses first-party cookies and receives information about site interactions, browser and device characteristics, and approximate geography. Gulf Coast Bite disables Google advertising personalization and Google Signals in its site configuration. You may choose “Essential only” or reopen “Privacy choices” in the site footer. Google’s handling of analytics information is governed by its own policies.
Gulf Coast Bite does not sell personal information and does not currently use analytics information for targeted advertising.
Hosting and technical logs
The site is hosted by Netlify. Like most hosting providers, Netlify may process request details such as IP address, browser information, requested page, timestamp, and security diagnostics to deliver and protect the site. These records are handled under Netlify’s policies and retention practices.
Information you choose to send
If you contact an advertising or privacy email address, the message and contact details you provide are processed to answer your inquiry and retained only as reasonably needed for that purpose, business records, or legal obligations.
External services and links
The site retrieves public conditions from NOAA and the National Weather Service and links to Google Maps, tackle-shop websites, email applications, and other third-party destinations. Those services may collect information under their own privacy policies when you interact with them.
Location and sensitive information
Gulf Coast Bite does not request precise device location. The region buttons select general fishing areas and do not reveal where you are. Please avoid placing sensitive personal information in catch notes even though those notes are designed to remain local to your device.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Gulf Coast Bite does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Choose “Essential only” to prevent the site from loading Google Analytics.
- Delete catch-journal entries individually or clear the site’s local browser data.
- Use browser cookie controls or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Contact us with a privacy question or request concerning information you sent directly.
Changes to this notice
This notice may change as the site adds features, advertising, accounts, or data services. Material changes will be reflected by a revised date and, when appropriate, an additional notice on the site.
